The Plitvice lakes

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a national park in Croatia, located halfway between the cities of Zagreb and Zadar. It was established April 8, 1949 and added to the UNESCO List of World Heritage in 1979.

The park consists of 16 lakes in 92 waterfalls ! In this Croatian national park, it will be usually 10 degrees cooler than on the seaside. It is therefore advisable to take a sweater with you off-season. Summer, it is happiness : you will apreciate the frechness of the park ... too bad we can not swim !
In winter (November to March), it's great : there is snow, you can even outside of the park, found some place to ski !! Going there in winter is a very good idea, car rental companies will give you a car with snow tire and you will enjoy the forest, the branches and the roads are full of snow.
Half the park is open winter.
Extremely well organized, several roads are showed to go around this park, from 4 pm to 8 hours of hiking. All roads are well marked with letters, you just have to follow the signalisation ! A log-path goes around the park, but it is also possible to visit by using a panoramic train and cross the largest lake with boats. (Which allows to shorten your journey).
Apart from the road and few facilities for tourists, nature is left in the wild, no human intervention are permitted. The park's forests are home to bears, olves and many rare bird species. Plitvice lakes include 16 lakes has elevations ranging from 636 to 503 meters above the level of the sea. Children will not get bored during hiking because along the way there are waterfalls and fish (lots of fish!) in the water ! Which will occupy and amaze. At the midpoint you will find in nature, restaurant :  pretty wooden houses, you can choose a hot meal or sandwiches, benches and tables close to the water.
There is no easy access for the disabled, but you can take the input 1 and roll a wheelchair on the road overlooking the big waterfall "Veliki slap".
